Working on a 4-person team I designed in SolidWorks and then built a rope pump, achieving 25 gal/min on a 12V motor.
I conducted & presented research on mechanisms and materials, and used a variety of composites, metals, and polymers as materials. I prototyped, and 3D printed multiple parts, which combined with COTS items in the final project. We broke a 9-year university record for the highest rate of water pumped in one minute.
This YouTube video of the project, posted by someone from my team, has over 4 million views. I’m the one in the hat. I was very happy with the crazy amount of water we moved - but if you watch you can tell I’m still pretty stressed as I check the motor and our data collection.
